Justice, Advocacy & Compassion

Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters, you did for me.
— Matthew 25:40

At Metro, we believe that a critical component to our spiritual formation is responding to the needs of the hurting. There are over 2,100 verses in the Bible where God calls His people to fight for justice, be an advocate, and have compassion for the poor and the oppressed.

Metro’s Justice, Advocacy & Compassion (JAC) Ministry helps people at Metro to do just that. We do not do this out of a sense of noble obligation, but we do it out of a sense of reverence for Jesus Christ.

In Matthew 25:40, Jesus teaches us that whatever we do to the “least of these” we are “doing unto him”. So, when we attend to the poor, the oppressed, and the marginalized in society, we do so with the expectation of encountering Jesus Himself.

Our Values

  • Reach: We reach out to the poor, the suffering and the marginalized in Englewood and beyond.

  • Relate: We live out what it means to love our neighbor and to build relationships with others.

  • Restore: We help restore and heal those in our community by being reflections of Christ.

JAC isn’t a ministry of Metro. It is the heart and soul of Metro. It is how we connect to our community. It is how our community connects to us. It is how we all connect to God.
